Flight Night: Guest Sommelier!

We hope a few of you have been able to visit the very picturesque Veritas Winery in Afton, Virginia. If you haven't been able to fit it into your busy schedule, we have brought the wines to you. Please join Thomas Roberts, Veritas Sommelier/Wine Director as he leads you through four wonderful local wines. Thomas will be presenting two whites (Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier) and two reds (Cabernet Franc and Claret) and answering as many questions as you can throw at him. The cost of this flight is only $14! |

VALENTINE'S DAY SPECIAL DINNER

As Barrel Thief has done in the past, we have a special evening planned. Both BT Short Pump and BT Patterson will be open for a reservation-only prix fixe 3-course dinner. The cost for the dinner is $75/couple. Our full by-the-glass list will be available in addition to a special by-the-glass offering.
The menu will be:

chilled oysters on the half shell w. starfruit-ginger mignonette
or
"soup and salad" - roasted beet soup w. micro herb salad, toasted pine nuts & champagne-tarragon vinaigrette
course 2: (your choice of)
grilled Maine sea scallops over butternut squash risotto w. port gastrique & pancetta crisp
or
grilled filet mignon over roasted fingerling potatoes w. rosemary dijon cream & arugula

COPAIN FLIGHT NIGHT @ BT SHORT PUMP

If you love world class California Pinot Noir and Syrah, then you should book your table now for a very special evening at Barrel Thief.
(Flight night consists of four half pours to complement your meal)
Wednesday (tomorrow), from 6pm-9pm, we are pleased to show the wines of Copain. This entirely red wine affair will feature two smooth Pinot Noirs and two vibrant and spicy Syrahs. Copain is one of the hottest domestic wines in the country. With clients like The French Laundry and Per Se and praise from Robert Parker, it is easy to understand why.
Copain was started by Wells Gutherie, whose previous job was Wine Spectator's Bay Area tasting coordinator. This gave him the opportunity to taste thousands of wines every year. After spending time in the Northern Rhone working for Chapoutier and time working for California superstar Helen Turley, he started Copain. Gutherie describes his winemaking as, "....more ingrained in European sensibilities. People make comparisons between winemakers and chefs and I get some of that, but we only get one shot a year. We produce wines that are under 14% alcohol...I think that's why our wines have been doing well in New York and San Francisco and a lot of the sommeliers tend to like the wines because of that sensibility."
